What Can I Do?

Contact Your Legislative Candidates

Here are some actual quotes we have received from legislators in the last couple of weeks:

"I do not know enough about the Maine Marriage Amendment to say one way or the other whether I support it."

"The California and Massachusetts courts have set a precedence."

"I would need to check in and listen to what the voters of my District think about this before making an absolute decision on how I would support such an amendment."

As you can see, we have a lot of work to do! But we cannot do it without you contacting you legislative candidates and encouraging your friends and neighbors to do likewise!
It is easy!

Click here to find your legislative candidates.

Simply tell them that an amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman will be offered during the next legislative session. Then ask if they would support the amendment. If they ask for more information, you can send them this one-page information resource.

Please forward their replies to allianceweb@mainemarriageamendment.org

Thank you for your participation! Only through the prayers and activism of people like you, will marriage be protected in Maine!

Pray

The battle to amend the Maine Constitution will be won on our knees. The Maine Marriage Alliance is asking people to pray for:

  1. The protection of marriages across America from the deceitful plans of the enemy (Psalm 61:3)
  2. Maine legislators' hearts to be changed to defend marriage by amending the Maine Constitution. (Proverbs 21:1)
  3. Judges who will honor their oaths and the written state and federal Constitutions. (Proverbs 8:16)
  4. Californians will have success overturning the unjust Supreme Court decision. (Psalm 141:6)
  5. A renewal of faith in our nation; that we Americans will experience a new Great Awakening; that our nation will return to the Biblical values on which she was founded. (Matthew 6:9-10)
  6. Believers to speak out in defense of marriage with boldness and love. (Zechariah 8:16-17)
  7. Many hearts, especially the hearts of persons facing same-sex attractions, to be open to God's healing power and grace. (Hebrews 4:15-16)
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

God bless you as you pray and work to honor God's plan for marriage. May God hear our cry and bless America.
